FAPESP and MIT launch a new call for proposals

Agência FAPESP* –Agência FAPESP – The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), have published a new call for proposals for exchange programs under the auspices of a cooperation agreement between the two institutions.
The call for proposals is open for research exchange missions in all fields. The deadline to submit proposals is September 19, 2011.
The call for proposals is open to principal investigators at public or private higher education or research institutions in São Paulo State, or the principal investigators of ongoing research projects funded by FAPESP under the Regular Research Awards, Thematic Projects, Young Investigators, or Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (CEPIDs).

The exchange activities envisaged under each project must be carried out from January 2012 through August 2013.
FAPESP and MIT will jointly fund the selected proposals with combined resources of up to US$ 30,000 per project (US$ 20,000 for researchers and postdoctoral students and US$ 10,000 for graduate students) within the established timeframe. The resources must be used exclusively for travel-related expenses (tickets, meals, lodging and insurance) following the terms of agreement between the two institutions.
Proposals should be presented simultaneously by the respective researcher in São Paulo State to FAPESP and his/her counterpart in the United State to MIT. Each of the institutions will select proposals according to its respective analysis process. Only proposals approved by both institutions will be financed.
