FAPESP Week Buenos Aires aims to strengthen links between researchers

Agência FAPESP* –Agência FAPESP – FAPESP and Argentina’s National Scientific & Technological Research Council (CONICET) will host FAPESP Week Buenos Aires between April 7 and April 10, 2015.
The aim of the symposium is to strengthen the links between researchers in São Paulo State and Argentina in order to promote cooperation in different fields of research.
CONICET is the main organization in charge of promoting S&T in Argentina. Its activities are developed in five major areas: agricultural sciences, engineering and materials; biology and health; exact and natural sciences; social sciences and humanities; and technology.
The program for FAPESP Week Buenos Aires includes a roundtable session to discuss such major collaborative projects as the Large Latin American Millimeter Array (LLAMA), which will be one of the highest astronomic observatories in the world, located in the Argentinian Andes near the border with Chile (read more at http://agencia.fapesp.br/19573/).
There will also be sessions on public perceptions and diffusion of science, on the challenges of higher education, and on interactions between universities and business.
Energy, functional foods, history, Latin American integration, health, quantum information, nanoscience and nanotechnology will also be addressed by speakers at the symposium.
FAPESP Weeks have been regularly held since 2011 in several countries to promote a multidisciplinary exchange among researchers from São Paulo State and their peers in other countries and to inform people abroad about the science being done in São Paulo. The event has taken place in the UK, Japan, Spain, the US, China, Canada and Germany.
This edition will take place at Hotel Presidente, Calle Cerrito 850, Centro, Buenos Aires. Registration is free.
