For the first time, FAPESP is participating in the International Collaborations in Chemistry (ICC), a program of the National Science Foundation’s Division of Chemistry (NSF/CHE).
The goal of this partnership is to stimulate innovative research projects in Chemistry conducted in cooperation between researchers in the U.S. and in the State of São Paulo.
Each joint proposal should have two principal investigators, one from an institution of higher education or research in the State of São Paulo and another in the United States.
Proposals must be submitted in a two-stage process: a preliminary proposal to NSF/CHE by the investigator in the United States, and after review, if encouraged, a full proposal to both NSF and FAPESP.
The deadline for preliminary proposals is November 4, 2011. More information about the format and guidelines for proposal submission is available on the NSF site at: www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=13627. The deadline for submission full proposals is January 11, 2012.
Proposals may be submitted by Principal investigators (PI) of ongoing projects in São Paulo State under of the following schemes: Regular Research Grants; Thematic Project (PI or co-PI); Young Researchers in Emerging Centers, or Center for Research, Innovation and Diffusion - CPID/RDIP (PI or co-PI).
The ICC will only accept basic research proposals that clearly fit the NSF Division of Chemistry programs in: Chemical Synthesis; Chemical Catalysis; Theory, Models and Computational Methods; Chemical Measurement and Imaging; Chemical Structure, Dynamics and Mechanisms; Macromolecular, Supramolecular and Nanochemistry; Environmental Chemical Sciences; or Chemistry of Life Process. More details can be found at: www.nsf.gov/div/index.jsp?div=CHE.
The selected research proposals are to be developed within three years.
