Agência FAPESP – Brazil’s Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) has begun the process of selecting the Institution’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Interested candidates should submit their applications by June 30, 2014.
CNPEM is a private, not-for-profit association accredited by the government as a social organization to carry out research into advanced materials, nanotechnology, life sciences and bioethanol. Situated in the Campinas High-Tech Complex, the center consists of the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), the Brazilian Biosciences National Library (LNBio), the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (LNNano) and the Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology Laboratory (CTBE).
Most of its funding comes from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation via a management agreement, but other sources such as development agencies, international institutions and private enterprise also make significant contributions.
CNPEM’s Board of Directors, with the help of a selection committee, is seeking a leader capable of formulating long-term strategies, building alliances, seeking new-growth opportunities for the CNPEM and producing results through strong management and mobilization.
According to the CNPEM, the position calls for experience in managing public and private institutions and familiarity with science and technology trends.
The candidate should have a PhD and excellent communication skills. The next Chief Executive Officer must demonstrate the capacity to take full command of the CNPEM, strengthen its mission and future vision, and guide the organization through its next phase of growth.
The Chief Executive Officer serves a three-year term, subject to renewal.
To take part in the process, the candidate should submit a letter of interest along with full curriculum vitae to: selecaodiretorgeral@cnpem.br.
