Agência FAPESP – The Institute of Psychology at the University of São Paulo (IP-USP) is promoting the São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Immigration, Environmental Violence, and Colonialism. The event is funded by FAPESP and will take place from July 25 to August 5.
The event is linked to the São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS) program and is an interdisciplinary laboratory involving sociology, anthropology, political science, psychology, psychoanalysis, education, environmental studies, and related fields.
The School seeks to promote critical training and the collective production of knowledge in an interdisciplinary space in the following thematic areas: immigration as a geographical displacement and subjective and political experience; environmental violence as a product of colonial and capitalist logics, highlighting proposals for ecological transition and climate justice; colonialism as a structure that permeates economic hierarchies, racial regimes, and knowledge systems.
The program will consist of morning classes and afternoon roundtable discussions. During these discussions, professors will engage in dialogue based on critical questions posed by the day’s speaker, seeking interdisciplinary approaches to the issues raised by contemporary crises. The sessions will be recorded and transcribed for future publication.
One hundred students will be selected: 50 from Brazil and 50 from abroad. Students may be enrolled in master’s, doctoral, postdoctoral, or undergraduate programs. FAPESP will cover travel expenses, travel insurance for international students, a daily allowance, and expenses for students traveling from other cities, states, or countries. Students must participate fully in all course activities.
Registration is open until January 28 and can be completed following the instructions on the SPSAS website.
The event will be held at IP-USP, located at Av. Professor Mello Moraes, 1721, Cidade Universitária, São Paulo.
