Agência FAPESP – Next year the University of São Paulo’s Pro-Rectorate for Inclusion and Belonging (PRIP-USP) will host the São Paulo School of Advanced Science on University, Memory and Reparation, scheduled to take place on July 1-11, 2025, in São Paulo city, Brazil.

FAPESP is supporting the event via its São Paulo School of Advanced Science Program (SPSAS).

The School will address the social role of universities, not only as platforms and repositories for research on memory, justice and reparation, but also as key institutional participants in these processes. It will discuss how universities can be reliable custodians of archives and collections, interpret and assure public access to places of memory, promote (or obstruct) the right to memory, and implement social reparation initiatives.

Brazilian and foreign researchers in all disciplines are invited to submit proposals to participate in the School.

Fifty participants from outside Brazil, 20 from São Paulo state and 30 from other Brazilian states will be selected on the basis of each candidate’s letter of interest and curriculum vitae. The selection process will take into account regional diversity as well as gender and ethnic-racial equity.

Online applications will be accepted in the period January 5-27, 2025. The application form is at: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeCe4BlHFnSCGGA7oHlvOtm-Z9u20eypujUUkaVYJAQY_B_DQ/viewform

The venues for the activities will be announced in due course.
