Agência FAPESP* – Registration is open until January 12, 2024, for the São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS) in Transdisciplinarity for Transformative Change, to be held on April 8-18 with FAPESP’s support at São Luiz do Paraitinga, São Paulo state.

The School is being organized by the State University of Campinas’s Center for Environmental Studies and Research (NEPAM-UNICAMP).

It will provide opportunities to train in transdisciplinarity as an intentional, self-reflexive and co-construction process, starting at the local level and involving multiple professionals and perspectives.

To this end, it will combine various formats, such as lectures, seminars, practical classes in breakout groups to co-produce transdisciplinary research proposals for transformative change, field trips with visits to research institutions and traditional communities, artistic activities to co-produce dialogues and scenes, presentations by participants using innovative ways of communicating science, cultural events, and networking.

The School will be led by some 20 outstanding lecturers, recognized for the excellence of their academic production and practical experience in transdisciplinarity or, in the case of Indigenous and traditional community leaders, for their outstanding expertise in this field.

Eighty places are available, half for Brazilians and half for participants from other countries. FAPESP will pay for accommodation and meals. Priority will be given PhD candidates or early-career researchers who completed their doctorates in 2017 or later. Applications are also welcome from master’s candidates doing transdisciplinary research, civil servants or NGO staffers with a master’s degree, and Indigenous community leaders with recognized expertise.
